Addie Illene Martin

Addie Illene Martin, 94, of Hurst, TX passed away on Friday, February 16, 2018. She was born in Klondike, Texas, the daughter of Lester Essary and Autna Moore Essary.

Mrs. Martin worked for 28 years for Sears and Roebuck in the catalog department where she served as manager. She married Eldon Martin on December 4, 1943 in Bonham, Texas; he preceded her in death in 1986.

Addie was deeply devoted to her family, friends, and the First United Methodist Church of Hurst, where she was a member for over sixty years. She especially liked the old hymns.

She also passed her time by collecting dolls and taking care of her pets, in particular her cat named "Buddy".

Mrs. Martin is survived by her daughter Brenda Schlappe (Robert) of North Richland Hills, a granddaughter, Jennifer Martin (Marty) of Keller, Tx, and two grandsons: Steven Schlappe (Michelle) of Hewitt, Tx., and J. Martin (Lana) of Crowley, Tx. Also surviving her are 2 great granddaughters: Sarah Schlappe and Aubree Martin, and 5 great grandsons: Nolan Martin, Nick Martin, Matthew Schlappe, Benjamin Schlappe, and Ahsten Martin.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Eldon, and a son, Ronald Martin.

Services for Addie Martin will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday February 21, 2018 at the Jones-Walker and Son Chapel located at 1209 Live Oak Street in Commerce, Texas. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services.

Bro. Terry Bryan will be officiating and pallbearers will be: Marty Martin, Nick Martin, Nolan Martin, J. Martin, Steven Schlappe, and Robert Schlappe.

Interment will be at the Shiloh Cemetery in Delta County, Tx.
