Betty Gene Plunkett

Betty Gene Plunkett, 77, of Commerce passed away on March 3, 2010 at the Tyler Continue Care Hospital.

Betty was born on June 13, 1932 to John Wesley and Irene Gilbert Hamilton in Kress, Texas where she grew up and attended high school. She later married Richard Plunkett and retired from Sherwood Medical.

Betty is survived by her two sons: Robby Lynn Plunkett and spouse Mary Lou of Cumby and Ricky Plunkett of West Tawakoni, her grandchildren: Carrie Plunkett Shields and spouse Kelly, Melissa Plunkett Spinks and spouse Blake, Kevin Plunkett all of Sulphur Springs, and Ami Plunkett of Arlington, her great grandchildren: Damion and Katelyn Shields, Blair and Braxton Spinks all of Sulphur Springs, and Corey and Codey Keener of Arlington.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard Plunkett, her brothers Jack, Wayne, and Charles Hamilton, sisters Iola Clinton, Nell Wright and Floreen Bobbitt.

Services will be held at Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Joel Tiemeyer officiating and graveside service will follow at Cumby City Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home on Friday, March 5, 2010 between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
