BETTY LOU BLANKENSHIP RIGO PASSED AWAY ON SUNDAY 3/27/2022 AT BRENTWOOD TERRACE IN PARIS, TX AT THE AGE OF 81 AFTER A COURAGEOUS BATTLE WITH PANCREATIC CANCER.
BETTY WAS ONE OF FIVE SISTERS ALL OF WHOM HAVE PRECEDED HER IN DEATH. HAZEL FLEMING, LILLIE NEWBERRY, EMILY FORD, AND DOROTHY CARTER-BLANKENSHIP. HER PARENTS WERE LEE OSCAR BLANKENSHIP AND MAMIE BLANKENSHIP WHO OWNED AND OPERATED LEE'S CAFE IN HONEY GROVE IN THE 1940'S AND EARLY 50'S.
BETTY WAS DEAF SINCE THE AGE OF 3 1/2 DUE TO A TRAGIC ACCIDENT. SHE ATTENDED TEXAS SCHOOL OF THE DEAF WHERE SHE WAS DRUM MAJORETTE AND WAS INVOLVED IN MANY ACTIVITIES. SHE LOVED SCHOOL AND IT WAS A SPECIAL TIME FOR HER AND SHE HAD MANY FOND MEMORIES OF HER TIME THERE. SHE WORKED AS A KEYPUNCH OPERATOR IN DALLAS AND LATER FOR THE U.S. POST OFFICE FOR ABOUT 7 YEARS. SHE RETIRED EARLY AND MOVED BACK TO HONEY GROVE FOR THE REMAINDER OF HER LIFE.
BETTY LOVED DOGS AND ALWAYS OWNED ONE OR TWO BICHON FRISE'S AS COMPANIONS.
BETTY IS SURVIVED BY HER ONLY NIECE PEGGY FINNEY AND HER HUSBAND JAMES (KIMO) FINNEY OF PARIS, TX AND THEIR SON NICK FINNEY OF DALLAS, TX.
CREMATION WAS UNDER THE DIRECTION OF JONES WALKER AND SON FUNERAL HOME.
AT HER REQUEST NO FORMAL SERVICES ARE PLANNED.
