Betty Joann (Daugherty) Teel, 88, passed away on April 30, 2024 at her home in Cooper, Texas. Joann was born to Clyde Henry and Lois Francis (Mills) Daugherty on January 1, 1936 in Charleston, Texas. She was the oldest of 6 children; sisters Sandra (Neil), Deborah, Linda (Phil), Billie (Mike) and a brother CH Daugherty (Nadine). Joann graduated from East Delta in 1954. She worked for Sherwood until her retirement. She was a devoted Christian. She loved listening to Jimmy Swaggart on Sunday mornings.
Joann was married to Fulton Winton Teel Jr. on November 24, 1976 in Cooper, Texas. Joann is survived by her daughters; Laura (Steve) Slough, Betty Malone, Donna (Chip) Nicholson, Carolyn (Gary) Reiber, Rita (Danny) Nerren; her son Mark Johnson, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, her sisters, and a host of neices, nephews and other family members, and a special friend Lee Johnson.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Jeffery Ray Oats, brother CH Daugherty, nephew Chad Daugherty and son-in-law Billy Malone.
Pallbearers are son-in-laws Steve Slough, Chip Nicholson, Gary Reiber, Danny Nerren and Great Grandsons- Midrean Gadlin, Trey Jones, Kaden Malone. Honorary Pallbearers will be her 9 grandchildren, Stephanie Slough, Shana Rusk, Brian Oats, Hailey Landrum, Brandy Malone Webb, Megan Reiber Donaldson, Gray Fulton Reiber, Austin Nerren, Kaitlyn Nerren.
Visitation will be from 12 noon until 1:00 p.m. on Saturday May 4, 2024 in the Jones-Walker Funeral Chapel. The funeral service will follow from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. with Bro. Terry Bryan officiating. Interment will be in the Sonora Cemetery in Fairlie following the funeral service.
