Billy Gene Fowler, 80, of Commerce went home to tend to God's cows on Wednesday, July 28, 2010.
Billy was born in Mangum, OK, to Foster E. (Jack) and Allie D. McMullen Fowler on October 3, 1929. He served his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict. Bill married Marcelline Hoelscher on June 8, 1950, in San Angelo. Bill was employed for 22 years and retired from GTE telephone as well as taught Vocational Trades at Central High School in San Angelo, raised cattle, traded farm equipment, was a rancher, and spent most of his life helping others.
Billy is survived by his loving spouse; two sons: Bobby Jack Fowler and spouse, Vicki (Leftwich), of Hughes Springs and Billy Mack Fowler and spouse, Karen (Schkade), of Commerce; a sister, Betty Sacco and spouse, Eugene, of Jupiter, FL; a bushel of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and friends.
He is predeceased by his parents and a sister, Bobbye Dean Skinner.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 30, 2010 at Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home from 6:00 P.M. till 8:00 P.M. and on Sunday, August 1, 2010, at Johnson Funeral Home, 435 West Beauregard, San Angelo, TX 76930, from 4:00 P.M. till 6:00 P.M.
Graveside services with Military Honors will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Bronte, Coke County, TX, on Monday, August 2, 2010, at 10:30 A.M.
