Connie Jean Benson King

Connie Jean Benson King, 68, of Commerce passed away early Thursday morning, July 25, 2024, at her residence from cancer.  Connie was born in Greenville, TX on June 4, 1956, to Albert Lee Benson and Eloise Julian Benson.  She was married to the late Mark King.  Connie earned a B.S. in Social Work from East Texas State University in 1994 and retired from North Texas Youth Connection where she worked with kids.  She loved her work and had a passion for helping and encouraging others. especially kids.  Connie was known as the cool mom and always had a house full of girls and loved them all like her own.  She was known to them all as mom and later became Nan-Nan.  The King family named her "Blondie."

Connie loved Cardinals and owned a huge collection of them.  She loved the saying "when a cardinal appears, a loved one is near.  Connie also enjoyed watching westerns and Elvis movies as well as spending time with her daughter, grandkids, grand dog and other family.  She looked forward to her daily phone conversations with her cousin Dell and lifelong friend "Retta."  Connie never met a stranger.  To know her was to love her.

Connie is survived by her daughter Christy Guest (Bobby Hill) and stepson Michael King (Jessica); grandchildren Christopher Clark-Gutierrez (Elizabeth), and Cody Clark (Dejah); great-grandchildren Warenlee Gutierrez, Lanie Rae Gutierrez and Zane Clark (due soon).  She is also survived by her brother Rickey Benson, several aunts, uncles, cousins, a nephew, brother and sisters-in-law, and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and grandparents. 

A graveside service will be held on Monday, July 29, 2024, at Brigham Cemetery in Campbell at 11:00 A.M with Bro. Jason Cunningham officiating.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Benson, Matt Frazier, Brandon Petty, Jim Bob Guest, Rickey James Benson and Michael Thomas.  Honorary pallbearers are Michael King, David Anderson, Jason Davis, Mark Benson, Mark Crouch and Greg Preas.
