Darrell Wayne Mitchell

Darrell Wayne Mitchell, 62, of Honey Grove passed away at his residence on Monday evening July 17, 2023.  He was born on July 21, 1960 in Paris, TX to James Clayton Johnson and Emma Jean Mitchell.  He moved to Fort Worth, TX where he spent his childhood.

Years later he attended Polly High School where he enjoyed playing football and running track.  After high school he married Avis Cleveland sharing two children Darrell Mitchell Jr. and Sharnece Mitchell.

After the divorce he met Annita and they share a son Darrell Ford.  He moved to Greenville, TX years later where he met Comesia Jones and they share a son Darius Jones.

Darrell was full of spirit.  If you ever came across him, you wouldn't forget him.  He was the family comedian, very hilarious, loving, charming and family oriented.  He will be missed by a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and friends.

He leaves precious memories his daughter Sharnece Mitchell, sons: Darrell Mitchell Jr., Darrell Ford and Darius Jones.  He is also survived by his sister Dolly Miller and brother James Mitchell.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Emma Jean Mitchell, father, James Clayton Johnson, sister Sharon Mitchell and brothers: Mannie Mitchell and Clyde Stewart

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2023  at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home.  Interment will follow at Grundy Memorial Park in Neylandville, TX.

Pallbearers will be Derrick Mitchell, Donell Miller, Audre Mitchell, Derrick Mitchell, Dee Miller, Mannie Mitchell and Darius Jones.
