Della Bateman

Della Bateman, 77, of Honey Grove died Saturday January 23, 2010.

She was born August 24, 1932 in Honey Grove to Millard Mackey and Pearl Jackson Mackey. Mrs. Bateman married Carl Bateman Sr. She retired from Honey Grove Nursing Center after 30 years of service in the Dietary Department.

She is survived by her daughters: Dorothy Cross and husband James of Sherman, TX; Marilyn Fritcher of Bonham, TX; Inita Bateman of Honey Grove, TX; and her son, Carl Bateman Jr. of Paris, TX. She is also survived by her step-daughter, Martha Jo Bateman of Wichita Falls, TX; her step-sons: Charles Henry Bateman of Honey Grove,TX, Johnny Ray Bateman and wife Anna of Honey Grove, TX, and Joe Wayne Bateman of Dallas, TX; her grandchildren: Shellamar Bateman, Fatesta Bateman, Mia Bateman, Martinez Bateman, Michael Bateman, and Farron Gray; and her great-grandchildren: Jasmin Bateman, Cheyenne Bateman, Shayla Bateman, and Ethan Bateman. She also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl Bateman Sr.; her step- sons, Earl Wayne Bateman and Carl Edward Bateman; her sisters, Emma Jean Davis, Henrietta Mackey, Katie Mae Mackey, Mae Ella Mackey, Ivory Mackey; and a brother Junior Mackey.

Services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Thursday, January 28, 2010, at St. James Baptist Church in Honey Grove, TX, with Rev. David Moore officiating. Visitation will preceed the service starting at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Honey Grove.
