Delwyn Boucher, 87, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 14, 2009, at Live Oak Nursing Home in George West, Texas. He was born in Shooks Chapel, Hopkins County, Texas, on June 4, 1922, to Porter Clifton Boucher and Myrtle Cross Boucher who preceded him in death.
Delwyn grew up in the Branom community in Hopkins County, Texas, and attended Branom schools, served in the Navy during WWII, was a Mason and charter member of the Sunset Masonic Lodge in Corpus Christi, TX, and worked for Celenese Corp. for 25 years starting in Bishop, Texas, as an operator and ending his career as a Chief Operator at the Tech Center in Clarkwood, TX. While living in Corpus Christi in the 1950's, he also started a side business as a television repairman. After leaving Celenese, he also did lawnmower repair at his home in Sleepy Hollow on Lake Corpus Christi .
He was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 55 years, June White Boucher; beloved daughter-in-law, Nadine Boucher; his parents;a brother Frank Boucher; and a great- grandson, Colton Lamm.
Delwyn is survived by one son, Wayne Boucher, formerly of Mathis; two daughters: Nita (Mickey) McNeal of George West and Melissa (Clayton) Porter of Odessa, MO.; seven grandchildren: Lisa, Sunni, Lamar, Trudi, Traci, Craig and Lauren; thirteen great- grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 18, at Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home chapel.
Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Friday, July 17, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home, 1209 Live Oak, Commerce, TX.
