Emmett Wayne Jones

Emmett Wayne Jones, 78, of Waxahachie passed away at his residence in the early hours of Friday, March 17, 2023.  Emmett was born in Commerce on June 6, 1944 to Emmett Ewing "Dutch" Jones and Lila Mae Thornhill.  Emmett enjoyed 54 years of being a truck driver before he retired.  He attended and a member of Ellis Cowboy Church.  Emmett loved spending time with his family, especially his grand babies.  He loved westerns and watching the Dallas Cowboys play.  His love of joking around with everyone will be missed.

Emmett is survived by his daughters: Debbie Dillard of Longview, Deanna Jones of Sulphur Springs, Donna Jones of Sulphur Springs, Tonya Doolin of California and Alicia Ward and husband Mike; sons: Donald Jones of Arizona and Randall Jones and wife Melissa of Waxahachie; 23 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild; a sister Carolyn Hines of Commerce and a brother Larry Jones of Sulphur Springs.  He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son David Dewayne Jones, 2 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 21, 2023 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Jones- Walker & Son Funeral Home.  Funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM with Bro. Terry Bryan officiating.  Interment will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Cumby following the service.

Pallbearers will be Blake Jones, Dylan Jones, Colton Jones, Terry Jones, James Hines and Jay Jones.  Honorary pallbearer will be Randy Hines.
