Arnold Eugene "Gene" Collinsworth, 62, of Commerce passed away Sunday, July 12, 2009, in Greenville.
Gene was born July 4, 1947, in Lubbock and was adopted by Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Middleton. Upon their deaths, he was adopted by his aunt and uncle, Margaret and Arnold Collinsworth.
After graduation from Texas Tech University with a degree in business administration, he worked for a number of companies including Eckhard's, FMC, Rubbermaid, and Air Gas. For the last five years, he had been employed by Commerce ISD.
Survivors include his wife, Reba of Commerce; his daughter, Amy Perry and husband William of Hooks, Texas; and his granddaughter, Serenity of Commerce.
He was preceded in death by both sets of adoptive parents.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 14, at the First Baptist Church of Commerce with Bro. Johnnie Henderson officiating. Interment will follow in Rosemound Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Doyle Hooks, Gail Petsick, Donnie Garrett, Marty Massey, Weldon Freeman, and Roy Copland.
Memorials may be made to the Building Fund of the First Baptist Church of Commerce or the American Cancer Society.
Visitation will be Monday, July 13, 2009, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home.
