Geraldine Speight

Geraldine (Jerry) Speight, 86, of Commerce passed away on Saturday, October 29, 2016.

Geraldine was born on June 4, 1930, in Commerce, Texas, to Alma Lee Payne and Louis Aubrey "Chig" Sparkman. She spent a wonderful 66 years married to J.T. Speight. Jerry was retired from Sherwood and Commerce ISD. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Commerce.

Jerry is survived by her husband, J.T.; her daughter, Kathy (Floyd) Black of Commerce; her son, John (Rita) Speight of Sulphur Springs; her grandsons: Chris Black of Commerce and Nathan Speight of Gun Barrel City; her granddaughters: Amy Speight Hillen of Round Rock, Ginger Black Atchley of Commerce and Kelli Speight Cole of Dallas; and, her great-grandchildren: Cody Black, Eli Black, Lucas Black, LynLee Atchley, Jacob Atchley and Noah Hillen.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alma and Louis Sparkman; her brothers, John Lewis and Lynn Max Sparkman; her sister, June Shipp and brother-in-law Bob Shipp; and, her grandson, John Speight II.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Wednesday, November 2, 2016, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home followed by graveside services at Sonora Cemetery in Fairlie with Rev. Randy Hicks officiating.

Pallbearers will be John Speight, Floyd Black, Chris Black, Cody Black, Randy Atchley, Jacob Atchley and David Huffman.

Honorary pallbearers will be Nathan Speight, James Speight, Robert Speight, Van Shipp, Bob Monday and Steve Speight.
