Grace Lou Stephenson

Grace Lou Stephenson, 94, passed away in Quitman, TX, on Monday, May 23, 2011.

Grace was born in Commerce on January 15, 1917, to John Fletcher Perkins and Effie Hollon Shoemate.

On June 6, 1936, she married Marvin William Stephenson. He preceded her in death on March 13, 1998.

She was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Mineola, TX, and the First Christian Church in Commerce where she taught a Bible study class. She was also active in several other church organizations.

Grace was a business woman. She owned and operated two successful beautician and florist businesses in Commerce in the 1960's and 1970's.

Survivors include her two sons: Tommy Dale Stephenson of Quitman and Larry William Stephenson of Midland; and, her nephew, Joe Cloniger of Houston.

Graveside services will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 26, 2011, at Rosemound Cemetery in Commerce.
