Gracie Lee "Mom". Manson, 80, of Campbell, passed away at her home on Thursday, March 10, 2011. She was a former motel owner and had worked for the post office.
"Mom" was born in Bogata, TX, on October 1, 1930, to William Elmer Banks and Ora May Staten Banks. On February 25, 1956, she married Homer Manson in Dallas.
In 1956 she received a degree in bookkeeping. She attended Greenville Senior Citizen Center and enjoyed cooking, yard work, and writing her pen pals. She also enjoyed talking on the telephone with her sister-in-law and planting flowers to feed her beloved husband's honey bees.
Survivors include her two sons: Homer Dale Manson of Greenville and Ronald Lee Manson of Tekamah, Nebraska; her brother, Donald Scott Banks of Garland; five sister-in-laws: Henrietta Banks, Rosemary Poole, Birtie Forrester, Barbara Williams, and Dorothy Daughtery; her grandchildren: Fredrick, Jason, and Charles Thigpen, and, Lisa, Erica, and Julie Manson, Cindy Manson, Anna Roth, and Jacob and Luke Palmer; and, her great granddaughter, Emily Tuttle.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; three brothers: Albert C. Banks, Modey Banks, and, Thomas Leroy Banks; and, her grandson, Ricky Lee Manson.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, March 14, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at Shady Grove Baptist Church. Rev. Jim McIntire will officiate.
Visitation will be held on Monday, March 14, 2011, at Shady Grove Baptist Church from 10:00 a.m. until service time.
Interment will follow in Shady Grove Cemetery.
