Helen Madge Lawless

Helen Madge Lawless, 86, of Oak Point, Texas, passed away Saturday, October 18, 2008, at her residence. She was born in Glasgow, Scotland.

Helen was preceeded in death by her husband, Curtis Earl Thornell; one son, David Thornell; her parents, Leonard and Lily Whitfield; and her sister, Lily Whitfield.

Survivors include her daughters: Bobbie Ann Metcalf (Craig) of Cleburne, Texas; Gloria Preston (Clair) of Oak Point, Texas; Virginia McClendon (Oliver - "Buddy" -) of Commerce, Texas; a son, Curtis Thornell (Ruth) of Forney, Texas; and 10 grandchildren: Katie Metcalf, Shirley Ann Hallum, Glen Edward Hallum, Cathy Bramhall, Rita Haven, Terry McClendon, Renee Webb (Scott), Rachel Dee Turner (Michael), Christine Jordan (Chris), Jacob Thornell; and, 13 Great Grandchildren.

Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday, October 21, 2008, at Sonora Cemetery in Fairlie, Texas, with Rev. Bobby Pope officiating.

Visitation will be Tuesday, October 21, 2008, at Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home from 11:00 AM until 12:45 PM.
