Henry Cleborn Cupit, 82, of Commerce graduated to his Home in Glory,on Thursday, August 1, 2013.
Cleborn was born in Caddo, Oklahoma, on February 19, 1931, to Henry Cupit and Opal Bell Simmons Cupit. On February of 1949, he married his precious bride, Billie Margaret Matkins Cupit.
In his early years, he was head mechanic st Dallas Air Motive at Love Field. He loved working on car engines and could really make them fly down the road. He moved his family to the small town of Cumby, in 1969. He worked and later retired from ETSU.
Cleborn found his higher calling on Jan. 20, 1963, when he received Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior, and was called to share the gospel of Jesus Christ, which was, and remained the joy of his life, for the rest of his life here on earth.
Survivors include his wife, Billie; his daughters: Cathy and husband, Kenneth Cummings of Emory, and Carolyn and husband, Kenneth Bearden of Commerce; his son, Michael Paul Cupit, and his wife, Michelle of Mt. Vernon; his grandchildren; Shon Potter and wife Tracy of Rowlett; Robin and husband, Justin Nabers of Commerce; Wendi and husband, Charles Humphries of Cumby; Brine Bearden and wife Becky of Cumby; Michaela and Mikenna Cupit; great grandchildren; Taylor, Landon and Hannah Nabers; Grayson Humphries, Tyler, Lizzie, and Blake Bearden, and, his three sisters; Jeanie Moore of Desota, , Velda Coffey of Whitewright, and Sherry Gibson of Commerce.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, V.J. Hunt; and, his two sisters: Launa Thurman and Laura Clark.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Cumby City Cemetery, in Cumby, with Bro. David Burns officiating.
Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home in Commerce prior to the services.
Pallbearers will be Shon Potter, Kenneth Cummings, Kenneth Bearden, Brine Bearden, Charles Humphries and Justin Nabers.
