Herman H. Bennett Jr.

Herman Houston Bennett Jr., 92 - a longtime resident of Commerce - passed away Sunday, October 20, 2013, in Commerce.

Herman was born in Greenville on March 30, 1921, to Herman Bennett Sr. and Mabel Taggart. On February 14, 1942 he married Dotte Sparks.

Herman was a World War ll Veteran, serving his country in the U. S. Army Air Corps.

Survivors include his son, Grant Bennett and his wife Dawn, of North Carolina: his daughter, Dianne Lowe and her husband Kin, of Weslaco,TX;. his daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Bennett, of Commerce, his grandchildren: Haley, Alexandra, Joshua and Victoria Bennett all of N.C, Kyle (Amanda) Lowe of Commerce, Amanda (West) Ballard of Rockwall and Brandi (Stephen) Tice of Commerce; his great-granddaughters: McKenna Lowe of Commerce, Adison and Aidan Ballard of Rockwall; his great-grandson, Bradley Tice of Commerce, and his sister; Julia Margaret Schrum.

He was preceded in death by his wife; his son, Herman Bennett lll (Sonny); his parents; and, by his brother Everett.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, October 25, 2013, at 11:00 A.M at the First Baptist Church of Commerce with Rev. Jeff Johnson officiating.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2013, from 5:00 P.M until 7:00 P.M at Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home Chapel.

Masonic graveside services will follow full Military Honors at Rosemound Cemetery.
