Ida Lee (Sanders) Acker, 88, of Commerce passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2011. In Greenville.

Ida was born in Sipe Springs (Comanche County), TX, on August 7, 1923, to Mary Savada Chapman and William LaFate Sanders. She was the eldest of 10 children. She was a folk story writer, writing many stories on growing up in a large family. She married the love of her life Bill Acker in January 1955. She taught in the Quinlan Schools for a numer of years, she was proprietor of a health food store in Denton. Ida was known as a cook extraordinaire. She was a lover of animals. Ida was of the Catholic faith.

Survivors include; her sister, Vera Eakin of San Angelo, a daughter, Sharon Key
of Denton, sister-in-law Louise Sanders of Lometa Texas, two grand-daughters, of Denton, her friend, neighbor and caregiver Rebecca Padilla. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews as well as Acker cousins.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 25, 2011, from 9:30-10:45 a.m. at Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. At St. Joseph Catholic Church in Commerce with Father George Monaghan officiating.

Interment will follow at Rosemound Cemetery.
