J. C. Johnson

J. C. Johnson, 69, of Sherman, TX, formerly of Honey Grove, passed away on Thursday, November 12, 2015 in Sherman.

J. C. was born August 25, 1946, in Dial, Texas, to Mary E. Farris and Frankie Johnson. In 2007 he married Darrell Frances Reed in Honey Grove. He worked for Piggly Wiggly grocery company.

Survivors include his wife, Darrell Frances Reed Johnson of Sherman; his son, Sterol J. Johnson (Deirdre) of Dallas; his four daughters: Retricia K. Tubbs (Henry) of Texarkana, Texas, Suprema J. Sanders of Honey Grove, Lisa Johnson of Brookston, Texas, and Malicia Johnson of Honey Grove; his brother, Jesse Johnson of Louisville, Kentucky; 16 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and, one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Pallbearers will be Wayne Stevenson, Cedric Stevenson, Allen Stevenson, Ronald Bateman, Marcus Denson, Jr, Christian Allen, Rodney Bateman and Bakari Mackey.

Honorary pallbearers will be Glen McCarty and Arthur Finney.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, November 20, 2015, at 2:30 P.M. at St. James Baptist Church in Honey Grove .

Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Honey Grove.

Interment service follows church service.
