Jack Roy Means, 88, passed away Monday, May 18, in Bonham. He was born
December 25, 1920, to Joseph Hugh Means and Myrtle McAleer Means in Hugo, Oklahoma.
He was a veteran of WWII, serving six years as an ambulance driver and section leader in the 556th and 557th Medical Ambulance Companies, based in Leyte, Okinawa and in Hawaii.
Survivors include his wife, Mary, of Campbell; two sons: Donald Ray Means and Ronald Gene Means of Campbell; three daughters: Deborah McCord and husband Lynn of Allen, Samantha Lumpkins and husband Randy of Bonham, and Davia Madariaga and husband Albert of Allen; 8 grandchildren: Chris Means, Mallory Batio, Paden Marlin, Morgan Marlin, Ethan Brooks, Kathleen Brooks, Liz Lumpkins, Matthew Lumpkins; and two great-grandchildren: Caitriona Means and Carys Batio.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and two sisters.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, May 21, at 2:00 p.m. at Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Lisa Greenwood-Wolcott, pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Commerce, officiating. Interment will follow in Brigham Cemetery in Campbell.
Pallbearers will be his son-in-laws and grandsons.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 20, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home.
