James Alvin "Jake" Humphries, 50, passed away at his residence in Yowell Community on Thursday, July 14, 2011.
Jake was born in Cooper, TX, on February 17, 1961, to Bobbye Virginia Thomas Humphries and Danny Alvin Humphries. He was self-employed in tractor and equipment sales.
Jake was a graduate of Cooper High School where he was a member of the National Honor Society. He was a member of the Cross Trails Cowboy Church and was the Youth Ranch Rodeo coach.
He married Marie Jones on November 24, 1990, in Commerce.
Jake was preceded in death by his grandparents: Alvin and Exle Humphries and J. D. and Alpha Thomas; his son, Riley Cade Humphries; and his sister-in-law, Susan Robbin Meeks.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Humphries of the Yowell Community; his son, Evan Cade Humphries of Yowell Community; his daughter, Brittney Gail Humphries of College Station; his parents: Bobbye Virginia (Thomas) Humphries and Danny Alvin Humphries of Yowell Community; his sister, Kelli Humphries Kaiser of Commerce; his brother, Tory Max Humphries and wife, Daidre of Sulphur Springs; and, many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 17, 2011, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Cross Trails Cowboy Church in Fairlie.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, July 18, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. in the Cross Trails Cowboy Church in Fairlie. Bros. Jeff Bishop, Danny Fairweather, Tracy Williams, and Oliver Mowat will officiate.
Interment will follow in Shiloh Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Derek Lambert, Kevin Ham, Jason Rector, Chris Baumann, Chip Nicholson, Jr. Bishop, Stephen Price, Danny ONeal, Benny Herman, and Michael Benson.
In lieu of usual remembrances, the family has requested that donations be made to the Evan Humphries Memorial Fund at Guaranty Bond Bank in Commerce, TX.
