James E. King, 77, of Honey Grove, passed away on July 18, 2021 at his residence, surrounded by family and friends. James was born in Ladonia, Texas on November 29, 1943 to the parentage of Eddie King and Mamie Dinkins King. He was a retired baker for East Texas State University in Commerce (Now Texas A & M Commerce).
He is survived by a son, James King, Jr., of Tyler, Texas, daughters: Patrina King Ables (Arnold) of Oklahoma City and Antrecia Cutliff (Steve) also of Oklahoma City, 6 grandsons, 5 granddaughters, 10 great granddaughters and 4 great grandsons. Also surviving Mr. King are a sister, Rosemary Mitchell of Ladonia, brother Billy King of Ladonia, brother Larry King of Honey Grove and special cousin Rosa Woods of Ladonia, and a hosts of nieces and nephews.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie King and Mamie Dinkins King and a brother, George King.
Viewing for Mr. King will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Friday, July 23, 2021 at Jones-Walker and Son Funeral Home in Commerce. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 24, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Ladonia with Reverend J.W. Scott officiating. Interment will be at the Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Ladonia. Serving as active pallbearers will be: Steve Cutliff, Dontrell Franklin, Darryl Gotcher, Ryan King, Bryan King, Arnold Ables, Gerald Adams, and Willie Blair. Honorary pallbearers are: Fred Woods, Stacy Woods, Marcus Woods, Mannie Mitchell and Ralph Johnson.
