Jerald Edwin Thomas Sr. of Commerce, Texas went home to be with the Lord early Monday morning June 10, 2024 peacefully with a smile on his face. He was 72 years old.
Jerald was a graduate of WW Samuell High School (1969) and a certified Journeyman Carpenter (1973), owner of Jeta Construction, Jeta Antiques and Cowhill Express Coffee.
He was born in Dallas, Texas July 18, 1951 to Bill Thomas (Pop) and Aline Malone Thomas, married to Elaine Fleming in 1969 and has two children, Wednesday Doyle (Malone) and Jerry Thomas (Commerce).
Jerald has four grandchildren Makenzie Ryer (Royse City), Chayne Germer (Campbell), Tuesday Gray (Midland), Kendall Doyle (Malone) and four great grandchildren Deckard and Oliver Ryer (Royse City), Cohen and Carter Gray (Midland).
Jerald will be met in heaven by his father, mother and four brothers Billy Thomas, Ricky Thomas, Ricky Sluder and Kenneth Sheppard. He leaves five sisters Linda Sue Thomas (Oklahoma), Debbie Risner (Canton), Dena Thomas, Tina Horton (Terrell), Donna Sheppard and one brother Roger Sluder (Terrell).
Jerald worked in commercial construction in Dallas over 20 years, first for FCS then for himself, establishing Jeta Construction in 1978. He supervised work on Trammell Crow's and Ross Perot's executive offices, the Majestic Theatre Renovation and Reunion Tower, placing the last exterior tile on The Ball.
Jerald loved people and loved serving his community by sponsoring sports teams, creating The Teen Center and the first skate park and ramp. He worked on the Downtown Revitalization Project, receiving multiple awards from the City of Commerce including Citizen Of The Year in 1985. He brought special attention to Commerce when his Cowhill Express Frozen Cappuccino Syrup was chosen by QVC as one of the best products in the state of Texas in 1995. He made several appearances on the QVC Shopping Network.
We will be celebrating Jerald's life the weekend of his birthday next month, Saturday July 20, a "Come and Go" outside from 11:00 to 4:00 at the Five Acres (his farm), 3570 HWY 24, Campbell, Texas.
