Joel Bruce Hoffman

Joel Bruce Hoffman, 67, of Commerce, passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2014, in Sulphur Springs.

Joel was born in Queens, New York, on August 30, 1946, to Anna Savage and Jonas Hoffman. He was a U. S. Army veteran and a truck driver for forty years.

Joel loved speding time with his grandchildren and playing with them. He had a big heart and a lot of love to give. There was never a stranger in his life, they were always friends or became a part of his extended family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Julia Hoffman.

Survivors include his two sons: Michael Hoffman and Bruce Hoffman; his daughters: Anna Cowfer, Joella Hoffman, September Estrada, Sarah Eddleman and Julie Ann Hoffman; his brother, David Hoffman; 14 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and, many friends.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to funeral services beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 9, 2014, at Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home chapel.

Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, February 9, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home chapel with R. J. Nanny of the Ridgecrest Baptist Church officiating.

Interment with Military Honors will follow at Sonora Cemetery in Fairlie.

Pallbearers will be Bruce Hoffman, Ian Cowfer, Zac Hoffman, Jordon Freeman, J. R. Estrada, Jason Williams, Kyle Shamburger and Cody Giles.

Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Hoffman, Scott Baldwin, Kenneth Dayberry, Bart Deaton and Joe Cagle.
