John Earl Mackey

John Earl "Bird" Mackey, 55, of Honey Grove, passed away in the earl morning hours of Monday, December 28, 2020 at his residence.

John was born on April 12,1965 in Honey Grove to Julius Gene Allen and Henriette Mackey.  He attended and graduated Honey Grove schools. 

John was known as "Early Bird" from a young age and then "Bird" after he got older.  Bird loved his community and wanted to be a help to others by talking about his past experiences.

Bird left many to cherish his memories including his life partner Teena Dickinson, son Christopher McGee (Robin), stepsons: Arron Dickison, Ashton Dickinson and Alec Dickison; stepdaughter Amaleigh Bailey; sisters Etta Mackey (Eugene Parker) and Shirley Moore (Murk), brothers Royse Mackey (Laverne Allen), Rickey Moore, Bruce Reynolds, Jerome Moore and Dewayne Moore; grandchildren Kiedrin McGee, Olivia McGee and Autum McGee; mother Shirley Ann Moore. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other family and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, bothers: Douglas Moore, Vincent Moore and Carl Moore.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. until 2:45 P.M. on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at  St. James Baptist Church in Honey Grove.  Graveside service will follow at 3:00 P.M. at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Honey Grove.

COVID-19 social distance and mask requirements will be expected.
