John Carroll Moore

John Carroll "J.C." Moore, 83, passed away Saturday, November 1, 2008, at Oak Manor Nursing Home in Commerce, Texas.

J. C. was an honorably discharged veteran with services in the United States Navy (1943-1945) as a Coxswain and in the United States Air Force (1951-1953) as an Air Police Officer.

He was a lifelong resident and native of Delta County, Texas, living on Needmore Road.

J. C. worked at LTV in Greenville; and, he later worked as a Postal Clerk for East Texas State University (now Texas A&M - Commerce). He retired from ETSU at the age of 62.

Survivors include his son, John W. "D J" Moore of Willow, Alaska; his best friend, Wanda Patterson of Greenville; a sister Joyce Stribling and husband Bill of College Station; a brother, Lenton Moore and wife Kay of Commerce; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.

He was preceeded in death by his parents: Grady M. and Effie Robnett Moore; a brother, Gerald Moore in 1973; and a sister, Jean Brooks in 2004.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home on Monday, November 3, 2008.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, November 4, 2008, at 11:00 AM in the First Baptist Church in Commerce with Pastor Adam Hailes officiating. Interment will follow in Shiloh Cemetery in Shiloh Community, Delta County.

Pallbearers are Bob Johnson, Darron Moore, Monty Moore, Mark Brooks, Tommy Stailey, and David Stribling.
