Joyce Marie Westbrook Jernigan Lara

Joyce Marie Westbrook Jernigan Lara, 87, passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2015, in Commerce.

Joyce was born in Scurry, Texas on September 18, 1928, to Lee Allen and Eurnet Westbrook. She was a Commerce resident since 1974. She was a bicycle currier for the United States Army in New York, during WWII. Joyce lived a simple life, and loved very much all those in her life. She as many of us in this world struggled with the intricasies of life, yet her love for her family, friends and God never waivered. She was very proud of all her children and grandchildren. The poet, the caregiver and the teacher.

Survivors include her sons: Roy A Boyd of Commerce, Troy I. Boyd of Celeste, Kenneth P. Boyd of Minneola, Donald S. Moore of Tempe, AZ. her daughter, Sherri Boyd, her grandsons; Ryen D. Simpson of Commerce and Joshua A. Boyd (Christie) of Royse City, her granddaughter, Jennifer M. Boyd of Commerce, her great-grandsons, Cooper A. Boyd of Royse City and Lawson L. Simpson of Oklahoma, and; her brother, Irving Westbrook of CA.

She was preceded in death by her parents Eurnet and Lee Westbrook, her daughter, Donna Lee Moore, her sister, Rosa Lee Westbrook and; her brothers; Bill Moore, Buddy Westbrook, Marcellas Westbrook and Allan Westbrook.
