Juanita Smith Morgan, 96, of Greenville passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2011, in Greenville.
She was born in Tidwell, a small country community outside of Greenville, TX. She was the daughter of James E. Smith and Rosa E. Burnett. At a very young age her father bought a large farm outside of Commerce, where she grew-up. In 1933, just out of High School, she married Jack W. Morgan, in Commerce. They were married for 60 years.
Most of her work years, they lived in Garland where she was employed as an underwriter for an insurance debit and real estate company. Upon retirement they moved to the Clear Lakes area at Quitman. As Jack's health declined, they moved to Greenville to be near family.
As care giver of Jack's heath problems, they were mostly confined at home. At this time, Park Street Baptist Church where they placed their membership, offered a Sunday School class for shut-ins by telephone. For thirteen years she was given the opportunity of serving the class. It fulfilled her days with great rewards. The Church honored her with a plaque on Mother's Day, 2003.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Duane Marable; her son, James Morgan; her granddaughters: Debra Marable, Meredith Palmer and husband Marcus Palmer; her grandson, Marcus Morgan; her two great granddaughters: Gracie Palmer and Michelle Morgan; and, her two great grandsons: Marcus and Joshua Morgan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, four sisters and her husband, Jack, in 1993.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, September 3, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home chapel with Bro. Johnny Hailes officiating.
