Kathryn Marie Verner

Kathryn Marie Thomas Verner, 84, of Detroit passed away Thursday, December 22, 2011, in Clarksville.

Kathryn was born in Commerce, Tx., on September 5, 1927, to Henry Clayton Thomas and Emily Elizabeth Plunkett Thomas.

She was a singer with The Thomas Family and a gospel songwriter

She married Harold Verner December 31, 1946, in Dallas, Tx. She was a wonderful, loving, devoted wife, mother, Auntie and Nana.

She was "Nana" not only to her two grandchildren, but also to their friends. She loved to watch and cheer on Jennifer, Brian and their teammates while they played sports.

Survivors include her husband, Harold Verner; her daughter Pam Hays and husband, Donnie; her granddaughter; Jennifer Hays of Tyler Tx.; and, her grandson Brian Hays and Fiancee Tara Raulston of Tyler Tx. She also has three sisters-in-law; several nieces; and many, many friends.

She was preceded in death by her son, Charles Thomas Verner; her parents; and, her brother, Dewey Thomas.

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 26, 2011, from 6:00-8:00 p.m at Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 Tuesday, December 27, 2011, at Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Don Shovan officiating.

Interment will follow at Rosemound Cemetery.
