Lavonne Avalena Bennett

Lavonne Avalena Bennett, 84, of Commerce passed away at her residence surrounded by her loving family, on Sunday, January 23, 2022. Lavonne was born in Helena, Montana on February 21, 1937, the daughter of Earl W. Baker and Dorothy Margaret Cline. She worked as a Social Worker for the State of South Dakota before moving to Texas. Lavonne married Alfred J. Lee in May of 1964 and he preceded her in death. She was very active in her church and taught classes at nearly every level.

Those preceding her in death include her parents, Oren and Dorothy Mitchell, a brother, Billy Mitchell, a sister, Pat Mitchell, husband Alfred Jackson Lee, grandsons: James Ray Prothro and Billy Hugh McKinney, and a great grandson, Jackie Glenn Prothro Jr.

Those who survive her are, a son Jim Skaggs (Madolin) and daughter Wanda Rosenbalm (Matt), 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.

Services for Lavonne Bennett will be held Sunday, January 30, 2022 at the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints located at 5309 Utah Street in Greenville, Texas. Viewing will be from 2:00-3:00 p.m. and the funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m. Interment will be in the Rosemound Cemetery following the funeral service. Pallbearers will be: Jackie Prothro Sr., Buddy Carter, Dean Spurlin, Jayme Skaggs, Dustin Carter and James Prothro. Colton Shelton and Matt Rosenbalm will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
