Lucille Weatherbee

Lucille Weatherbee passed away in Commerce, Texas, on March 12, 2011, at the age of 89. She was born on May 3, 1921, to John and Lona Follis Weatherbee.


Lucille was a homemaker. She was a lifetime lover of sports. She supported the Commerce little league baseball program for many years and knew all the players and their families. She was a true fan of the East Texas State University Lion athletic teams. She rarely missed a game. She enjoyed taking photos and making scrapbooks of her favorite players and teams. She collected baseball cards and memorabilia for fun. She loved Barbie dolls; and, as a hobby, she made clothes for the dolls. Once she completed the outfit, she would find a worthy owner for each special doll.


She graduated from Commerce High School and was a member of the Assembly of God church in Commerce, Texas; she enjoyed attending and participating in church functions.


She was preceded in death by her parents: John and Lona Follis Weatherbee; and, all of her siblings: Alemedia Weatherbee, Charles Clifton (Buddy) Weatherbee, Viola (Billie) Hamilton, Willie (Dimple) Mitchell, Johnny B. Weatherbee and Hazel Schwartz.


She is survived by nieces and nephews: Tony Schwartz, Donna Spinato, Brenda Weatherbee and Douglas Hamilton of Commerce; and, Doris Hamilton, Melvin Hamilton, Mary Price, Clifton Hamilton, James Hamilton and Joe Hamilton from the metro-plex. She is also survived by a host of grand and great-grand nieces and nephews.


A graveside service and burial will be held Saturday, March 19, 2011, at 10 a.m. at Rosemound Cemetery in Commerce, Texas. Reverend Roy Lee Dittmar will officiate.
