Marjorie Lee Vinson

Marjorie Lee Vinson, 76, of Sulphur Springs, went to be with her Lord Saturday., Jan. 14.

She was born on Aug. 18, 1935 in Cumby and was the daughter of Roger and Faye Odom. Margie graduated from Cumby High School and received a B.A. in education from East Texas State University.

Margie was a special education teacher until she retired in 2008 and touched many students' lives over the course of her 28 year career.

Margie was an active member of First Baptist Church Yantis. She loved to make quilts, work in her yard, and spend time with her family. She was a fan of Antiques Roadshow, and seldom missed an episode.

Margie is survived by her daughter Marty Smith and husband Mike of Yantis, daughter Tammy Vinson of Sulphur Springs, granddaughter Tory Smith and grandson Dustin Fielden, both of Yantis, and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, one infant sister, and her son Bobby Gene Vinson.

A visitation will be held at 6 pm Tuesday, Jan. 17 at West Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 pm on Wednesday, January 18 at First Baptist Church Yantis with Bro. Shannon Hassell officiating.

Interment will follow at the Cumby Cemetery with Fred Epperly, Dustin Fielden, Ryan Glenn, Hollis Goode, Rick Hill, and Tony Wisniewski serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers include Brent Glenn, Colton Glenn, Charles Husbands, Floyd Lawrence, and Oscar Strain.

Margie's family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks for the prayers and condolences they have received during this time.
