Mereta Faye (Wilson) McKay, 85, of Wolfe City, Texas passed away in Commerce early Saturday morning December 7, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Mereta was born in the Needmore Community (Delta County), Texas on September 11, 1939 to John Henry Wilson and Coy Lee (Dickey) Wilson.
Mereta is survived by her husband Carlos of 67 years; sons Jeffrey McKay (Holly), Bruce McKay (Darlene); grandchildren Amber Whited (Chris), Dylan McKay (Brooke); great-grandchildren Avery Whited, Connor Whited, and Rosalie McKay; sisters Sally Millsap, Barbara Coffman, and Linda Coffman; brothers-in-law Harold Glenn McKay, Hubert McKay (Virginia) and sister-in-law Pearl Wilson.
She was predeceased by her parents; four brothers James Lee Wilson, Johnnie Ray Wilson, Carrol Wayne Wilson, and Kenneth Wilson; five of her eight sisters Mary Lou Roland, Ina Ruth Hill, Betty Moreland, Shirley Morgan, and Melba McKnight.
Visitation for Mereta will be on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home in Commerce. A private graveside service will be held on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at Wesley Chapel Cemetery in the Aberfoyle community with Pastor Brenda Williams officiating.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Heritage Hospice staff Shannon, Cindy, & Kasey for the tender care given to Mereta.
