Jesse Eugene Dunn, a distinguished veteran and beloved family man, passed away on December 10, 2023, at the age of 88. Born on March 3, 1935, in Aubrey, Texas, Jesse's life was marked by service, dedication and love.
Jesse honorably served his country in the Korean War and retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1977 as Master Sergeant, a testament to his commitment and bravery. His military career was a significant part of his life, shaping his values and the respect he earned from those around him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clinton Robert Dunn and Noba Beatrice Griffith; his sisters, Joanne Dunn and Jenell Peabody; and stepson, Brian Kelley (Brenda).
Jesse's legacy lives on through his wife, Odessa Dunn; his former wife, Ola Dunn; his brother, Curtis Dunn; his children, Lynda Amen (Jim), Michael Dunn (Sue) and Melanie Johnson (Chuck); his stepchild, Jill Grove (Jim Bob); along with six grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren, who will all miss him dearly.
An alumnus of East Texas State University, Jesse graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology, demonstrating his lifelong love of learning and innovation. He was a devout parishioner at the First Assembly of God, where his faith and community involvement were central to his life.
Jesse's passions included collecting tools and toys, and he spent countless hours tinkering in his garage, a hobby that brought him immense joy and satisfaction. His garage was a treasure trove of memories and technical wonders, a place where he found peace and contentment.
Jesse's life was a journey of service, faith and family. He will be remembered for his strength, kindness and the indelible mark he left on the hearts of those who knew him. As we say farewell, we celebrate a life-well lived and cherish the memories he leaves behind.
Funeral services for Jesse will be held on Friday, December 15, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at the First Assembly of God in Greenville, TX. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. A graveside service, with full military honors, will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Friday, December 15, 2023 at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Cumby, TX.
The pallbearers will be Jim Bob Grove, Joseph Grove, Dustin Kelly, Kyle Kelly, Chris Holderman and Nigel Willcox, who will carry Jesse to his final resting place with respect and love.
