R.C. Woods

R.C. Woods, 90, passed away Monday, January 4, 2010, at the Medical Center of Plano.

R.C. was born on September 17, 1919, to Roy Clayton Woods and Roxy Locke Woods in Wolfe City where he grew up and matured. He found love in his home town and married Bernice McBeth, and later joined the Army in 1942. RC was a devout, lifelong member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Wolfe City.

Survivors include his wife, Bernice Woods of Wolfe City; three sons: Roger L. Woods of Dallas, Bobby R. Woods of Watauga and Marvin D. Woods of Wolfe City; two daughters: Annie Woods of Allen and Gwendolyn Jenkins of Greenville; a sister, Joyce C. Phea of Bonham; 5 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 2 great great-grandchildren; a host of other family members, and friends.

Visitation will be held at Jones-Walker and Son Funeral Home from 9:00 am till 5:00 pm on Friday, January 8, 2010.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, January 9, 2010, at 1:00 p.m. at the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Wolfe City, Interment with Military Honors will follow at Mt. Carmel West Cemetery.
