Rev. Delbert Watson, 81, of Commerce passed away on Wednesday, October 5, 2011, in Dallas.
He was born in Deshler, Nebraska, on June 29, 1930, to Marie Pearl Van De Vanter and Romaine Albert Watson. On July 26, 1953, he married Arvella Mae Dulany in Pueblo, Colorado. He had been a Fuller Brush Man for 50 years and was the pastor of the Victory Baptist Church since 1983.
He graduated from Orthodox Baptist College in Ardmore, Oklahoma; he loved football; and, he was a gifted repairman and builder of homes and churches.
Rev. Watson was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters: Helen Hebert, Leotta Ruckoldt and JoAnn Benson.
Survivors include his wife, Arvella of Commerce; his daughters: Karen Madewell, Becky Trujillo, Roxie Jones and Linda Usery; his brother, Howard Watson of Parrumph, Nevada; 8 grandchildren; and, 5 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Victory Baptist Church on Saturday, October 8, 2011, from 10:00 a.m. until service time.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, October 8, 2011, at Victory Baptist Church in Commerce.
Interment will follow in Horton Cemetery in the Horton Community.
