Funeral services for Richard L. Wood, 81, of Cumby will be held at the Brashear Baptist Church on Thursday, April 5, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. with Bro. David Burns and Bro. Harvey Snider officiating.
Burial with full Military Honors will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery, east of Cumby. Pallbearers will be Jack Holley, Stan Webb, Arlie Bryant, Jason Holley, Dustin Holley and Shawn Wood.
Visitation will be held at Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home in Commerce from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 4, 2012.
Richard Wood passed away on Sunday, April 1, 2012, in a Tyler hospital.
He was born on February 28, 1931, in Donley County, Texas to William H. (Bill) and Ruby Hefner Wood and was a United States Air Force veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Elaine, whom he married on September 19, 1974; one son, Kelly Wood and wife Sandy of Vernon, TX; one step-son, Troy Watson of Waco, TX; four grandchildren: Sarah Nielson and Joshua Wood of Shreveport, LA, Cara Wood and Shawn Wood of Lampasas, TX; four great-grandchildren: Aubrey, Mason, Christian, and Thomas; a daughter-in-law, Sharon Wood of Lampasas; and, one brother, Bill Wood of Childress, TX.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Robert Wood; his sister, Shirley Weatherford; and, his brother, James Wood
