Robert "Bobby" Callan

Bobby Callan, 85, of Cumby passed away on Thursday, June 23, 2011. He was a rancher and owner of Callan Trucking. Bobby was a WW II Veteran of the U.S. Navy.

Bobby was born in Cumby, TX, January 28, 1926, to Ollie Callan and Walter Lee Callan. On October 14, 1946, he married Mary Swann in Cumby.

He was a member of the Hopkins County Masonic Lodge No. 180 and had received his 50 year pin. He was also a lifetime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Cumby.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his two brothers: James Callan and Richard Callan; and, his great-grandson, Robert Callan Frizell.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Callan of Cumby; his two daughters: Patsy Peralta of Grandbury and Karen Callan of Cumby; his grandchildren: Michelle McRae of Springtown and Renae Frizell of Dallas; his great-grandchildren: Jerrod Miller of Springtown, Rebecca Frizell, Arabella Frizell, and,Vincent Frizell all of Dallas; and, his great-great-granddaughter Avery Miller of Springtown.

Visitation will be at Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home on Saturday, June 25, 2011, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 26, 2011, at Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. David Burns officiating.

Interment with military honors will follow at Cumby City Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Amos Walker, Ricky Denson, Ricky Petty, Jerrod Miller, George Crowell, and Keith Hale.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Yarbrough, Mike Cross, Ronny Hoops, and Franklin Walls.

The family has requested that in lieu of usual remembrances donations be made to the Cumby City Cemetery Perpetual Fund.
