Ruth A. Mashburn

Ruth A. Mashburn, 100 years old, formerly of Commerce passed away in Dallas, on Friday, January 1, 2016.

Sue Anna Ruth Arrington was born in Emory, Texas on August 1, 1915, to Sue Kemper Arrington and Raymond Altage Arrington. On December 23, 1939, she married Trumer (Pete) Mashburn in Greenville at Kavanaugh Methodist Church, to that union was born their daughter Sue Lynn Mashburn. Ruth received both her Bachelors and Masters degrees in Elementary Education from East Texas State University. She taught 1st and 2nd grade at Nancy Mosely Elementary and Richard Lagow Elementary.

Ruth was an avid quilter and people all across the United States treasure her quilts. She crocheted, sewed, read, researched genealogy, she loved to cook and travel in her travel trailer. When her husband Trumer passed away in 1984, Ruth moved to Dallas where she spent the rest of her life with her daughter Sue Lynn and son-in-law James Adams.

Survivors include her daughter, Sue Lynn Adams and her husband James of Dallas, her grandsons; Kevin DeWayne Adams (Carol) and Glenn Edward Adams, her great-grandchildren: Heather Marie Mauldin, Aimee Leigh Adams and Benjamin Pelham Adams.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Trumer Mashburn, her parents, Raymond and Sue Arrington and her sister, Estelle Arrington Dinsmore.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 7, 2016, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, January 8, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. at Rosemound Cemetery with Jeff Bishop officiating.

Pallbearers will be John Beshears, Zane Marek, Kevin Adams, Glenn Adams, Ben Adams and Bob Beshears.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Larry Cunningham, Brian Hill, William Eric Hunt, Steven Talley and John Norlin.
