Shirley Lanae Preston 75, of Bonham, Tx passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, May 21, 2019.
She was born in Blytheville, Arkansas on August 17, 1943 to Lavelle Opal (nee Stewart) and Charles Edmund Bright. Shirley loved her work as a bookkeeper and real estate manager immensely. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to everyone not just her own family. She was a very loving and giving woman and never turned away anyone in need. She loved to dance and won a televised dance competition in her youth in Little Rock, Arkansas. She loved to sing and play the piano and her favorites were Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn and Diana Ross and the Supremes. She was also known as the bingo queen of the south and her fun and humorous attitude was a joy for all those who were around her and will be terribly missed.
She is survived by her much beloved brother, Max Nash of Horn Lake, MS, Daughters Cynthia Preston of Bonham and Virginia Elliott of Commerce and son Rodney Preston of Campbell, all of which are in Texas. She is also survived by a multitude of grandchildren and great-grandchildren all of whom she loved unconditionally.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years Jimmy W. Preston and two daughters, Crystal Preston and Jimmie (Sherri) Preston. The family will have a private memorial service at the gravesite with the cremains of both Shirley and Jimmy Preston which will be announced at a later date.
