Tallie Roberts, 98, of San Bernardino, CA, formerly of Honey Grove, TX, passed away in San Bernardino, CA, on Monday,. February 7, 2011.

She was born on June 7, 1912, to Maudie Coffey Finney and Horace Finney. She was the fifth eldest of six children.

After her marriage to Ola Gray, she met and married Author Roberts in 1934. To this union two children were born. They lived on a farm in Honey Grove, TX where she worked as a housewife and later a babysitter for Mrs. Ruby Sienbenthal. She was a cook for the Main Cafe, and later worked as a presser for the Pastly Cleaners for 11 years.

Mrs. Roberts was a member of the 16th St. Baptist Church in Honey Grove and served in the Mission Circle and different Missionary programs. She loved music, sewing, and cooking for her family. She loved the Lord and trusted him in her everyday living.

Due to health reasons, she moved to San Bernardino, CA with her daughter Billie Dancy and became a member of the Manna Baptist Church where Rev. Cornelius George is pastor.

She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters Billie Dancy and husband Willie of San Bernardino, CA, Doris McCoullough of Bonham, TX and a son A.J. Roberts and wife Willie of Texarkana, AR, and a sister-in-law Hazel Finney of Dallas, TX. 20 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, and 10 great great grandchildren, family, and friends also cherish her memory.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Author Roberts, son Magness Gray, two grandsons Jessie Cook and Ralph, a sister Gladys Finney, and three brothers L.C. Finney, Horace Finney, and Lee Roy Finney.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 19, 2011, at St. James Baptist Church in Honey Grove Rev. Stuart Courtney officiating, Rev David Moore eulogist. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Commerce.
