Tammie Lavelle Nelson

Tammie Nelson, 56, of Commerce, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, October 8, 2019.

Tammie was born in Quanah, TX to Martha Ann Solomon Walker on November 12, 1962. She attended and graduated from Commerce Schools.

In 1998 Tammie married J.W. Nelson. She worked as a private home health aide.

Tammie is survived by husband J.W. Nelson, daughters: Tamare D. Crosby and Tambralina N. Nelson; son Tyson Gray; grandchildren: Brooklynn Kinchen, Payshance Kinchen, Jeriah Bronston, Taniya Guster and Amauri Brown; her sisters Donna Crosby and Karen Crosby; brother Deryck Crosby; "life sister and brothers" Sissy, Blue, Dale, Sammy and Larry. Tammie is also survived by her mother-in law Mary Nelson, sister-in-laws Mary Ann Nelson, Linda Nelson, Teressa Nelson and Maxine Williams; brother-in-laws Larry Johnson, Albert Johnson and Vic Nelson; nephews Jeremy Crosby, Cortez Crosby and Casey Shields; nieces; Elizabeth Crosby, Leah Crosby and Cheree Walker.

Tammi was preceded in death by her mother, Martha Ann Walker and step-father Milton Walker; aunts Anita Morrison, Donnie Smith and Mary Lou Smith; uncle Carl Leo.

Funeral service for Tammie will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, October 12, 2019, at Mount Moriah Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Dixon officiating.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 11, 2019, from 9:00 A.M. until 4:00 P.M at Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home.

Burial will follow funeral service at Rosemound Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Tyrone Hines, Tony Pannell, Nick Gadlin, Brit Greer, Tyson Gray, Tony Henry, Myreo Sampson and DA Morrison. Honorary pallbearers are Shawn Pannell, Patrick Gadlin, Jeremy Crosby, Sammy Sampson, Leonard Ray Sampson, Larry Nelson and Fredric Smith.
