Venetta Pope

Nita Pope, 80, of Commerce passed away on Thursday, July 3, 2014, in Livingston, Texas.

Nita was born in Mt. Vernon, Arkansas, on October 30, 1933, to Alma Ruth Lloyd and Amon Jasper Free.

Survivors include her two sons: Perry Pope (Flower) of El Dorado, Arkansas, and Jackie (Melissa) Pope of Commerce; her four daughters: Wanda Lane Lecourias of LaPorte, Texas, Vickie Lane Reid (Paul) of Onalaska, Texas, Shirley Lane Smith (David) of Lonoke, Arkansas, and Anita Lane Norman of Commerce; her fourteen grandchildren; her fifteen great grandchildren; and, her brother, Herbert Free (Earlene) of Conway, Arkansas.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Pope Sr.; her three brothers; and, her three sisters.

Visitation will be conducted on Sunday, July 6, 2014, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home in Commerce, Texas.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Monday, July 7, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Don Rooks, Rev. Rob Lecourias and Perry Pope officiating. Interment will follow at Horton Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy McKinley, Joshua Smith, Micah Lecourias, Justin Lecourias, Jacob Riley and Hunter Williams.

Honorary Pallbearer will be Bill Hanes.
