Willis Levi Hunnicutt

Willis Levi Hunnicutt, 89, of Dallas passed away Saturday, December 11, 2010, in the Dallas VA hospital.


He was born April 11, 1921, in Marietta, Mississippi, to Thomas Levi and Stella Hunnicutt.


Willis Hunnicutt served in the US Army in the 68th Tank Battalion 6th Armored Division as a member of one of General George S. Patton's famous Third Army Divisions "Super Sixth" during World War II in Europe. The 6th Armored fought in five major campaigns including Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes-Alsace, Rhineland and Central Europe. Mr. Hunnicutt received the American Theater Medal, World War II Medal, a Good Conduct Medal, and an EAME Campaign Medal with 3 Bronze Stars.


Willis was employed by and proud of his association with General Dynamics and later Lockheed-Martin in Fort Worth. He served as a volunteer at the Dallas VA hospital for 15 years.


His service will be performed by Minister Steve Bailey of the Mesquite Church of Christ where Willis was a life-long member.


Mr. Hunnicutt was preceded in death by father Thomas, mother Stella, sisters Gay Rue McKnight and Virginia Cunningham. He is survived by family members Donna Golden, Tim McKnight and their respective families.

Graveside services will be conducted on Wednesday, December 29, 2010, at 11 a.m. in Memoryland Memorial Park in Greenville, Texas. Military Honors will be presented by the Hunt County Military Coalition
